Todos le cantan el feliz cumpleaños y abre los regalos, pero al abrir el de su hijo pequeño, se enfada y dice que no le gusta. El niño empieza a llorar y a decir que le quiere, pero Santiago le contesta que no le cree y le dice a su hijo que está despedido y que quiere otro hijo que sea más delgado, no lleve gafas, y que se parezca más a él. SYNOPSIS Santiago wakes up like any other morning. He goes down to the kitchen and his whole family is waiting for him: it's his birthday. They all sing "Happy Birthday to you" and give him presents. But when he opens the present of his youngest son, he gets angry and says he doesn't like it. The boy starts crying and saying that he loves him, but Santiago answers that he doesn't believe him and he tells the boy that he is fired and that he wants another son, who is thinner, who doesn't need glasses and who resembles him more. León de Aranoa (Madrid, 1968) es licenciado en Ciencias de la Imagen por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Escribe y dirige su ópera prima "Familia" (1996), que recibe el Premio Goya a la mejor dirección novel. En 1998 escribe y dirige "Barrio", que obtiene tres Premios Goya, y en 2002 "Los lunes al sol" gana la Concha de Oro a la mejor película del Festival de cine de San Sebastián. "Princesas" (2005), que también escribe y dirige, es además su primera experiencia como productor. Aranoa ha escrito varios documentales, y cuenta con los máximos galardones en festivales internacionales como Gramado, Ariel de México y la Habana entre otros. DIRECTOR´S BIO & FILMOGRAPHY F. León de Aranoa (Madrid, 1968) has a degree in Media at the University Complutense of Madrid. His opera prima, Familia (1996) earned him a Goya Spanish award for Best New Director. In 1998, he wrote and directed his feature Barrio which obtained 3 Goya awards, and “Mondays in the Sun” (2002) was awarded the Golden Shell at San Sebastian Film Festival. He writes and directs “Princesses” (2005) which is also his first experience as a producer. Aranoa has also wrote several documentaries and besides, he has received the most important awards at international film festivals such as Gramado, Mexico Ariel awards and The Havana amongst others.
