SINOPSIS
Dos amigos de la infancia Neto y Matías deciden alistarse en el departamento de la policía militar de Río de Janeiro, para llegar a ser buenos policías y luchar contra los crímenes y el tráfico de drogas, sin embargo, la profunda corrupción del sistema (y en especial de la policía) nos enseñan como afrontan la realidad del problema y sus consecuencias, dos policías novatos con principios y el capitán Nascimento, a punto de perder el control por culpa de las brutales misiones que se ve obligado a cumplir.
SYNOPSIS
The story of two childhood friends, Neto and Matías, who decide to enlist in Rio de Janeiro's Military Police Department. They want to become honest policemen and to fight against criminals and the drug cartel. However, they can only see corruption. After juggling their police jobs and college, both make up their minds to try out for a Special Operations Squad whose mission is to take down the drug-lords that plague the city. Both men struggle to survive, facing the daily challenges of dealing with pressure at home and fighting in an unnamed war on the streets.

BIOFILMOGRAFÍA DEL DIRECTOR
José Padilla. Cineasta, documentalista y productor cinematográfico brasileño. Su primer largometraje como director fue el documental Bus 174 (2002), al que siguió Estamira (2004) y Garapa (2008) sobre tres familias que intentan salir adelante en Brasil. Escrita, producida y dirigida por él, Tropa de Elite ganó el Oso de Oro en el Festival Internacional de Berlín de 2008. La película logró el mayor número de espectadores en el Ránking nacional de 2007 en Brasil. Actualmente dirige dos proyectos que estrenará en 2010, A Willing Patriot, acerca de la lucha antiterrorista y Marching Powder que aborda la relación entre prisión y droga.
DIRECTOR´S BIO & FILMOGRAPHY
José Padilha. Brazilian filmmaker, documentarist and producer. His first directed film was the documentary Bus 174, followed by Estamira (2004) and Garapa (2008) about three families trying to survive in Brazil. Tropa de Elite (The Elite Squad) – written, directed and produced it by Padilha – this film earned him the Golden Bear at Berlin Film Festival 2008. It was the most seen film raking first at the Brazilian National Ranking 2007. Currently, he is directing two films to be released in 2010 – “A Willing Patriot”, a film about fight against a terrorist-funding network and “Marching Powder” tackling the relation between prison and drug.
